The are bridges that must be crossed on any
journey. When we are coaching others to success it is crucial to
understand human nature. If just learning success and marketing
strategies and techniques were enough - everyone would be successful
at network marketing.
As an mlm coach, what is really fulfilling is
when you see those you are coaching begin to effectively lead others.
Those who rise to the top as leaders of leaders usually go through a
scenario of:
Someone to:
Look you up!
Let you in!
Lift you up!
Lead you on!
Let you go!
We will take a quick look at each one:
Look you up!: Most people will not be so
aggressive or presumptuous in the early stages of their success to
reach out to top leaders in their company or upline, which isnt
a bad thing. A certain degree of humility is a mark of a great
leader. So, it is up to us as leaders of leaders to be on the look
out and discover those people that are rising to the top.
I remember in my first network marketing company,
one of the top money earners in our company who was way up in my
upline called me out of the blue one day - just to talk. He analysed
his downline report and noticed I was making a few waves. At that
time, that call and recognition meant a great deal to me.
In coaching coaches it will serve you well to
look people up!
Let you in!: The topic of building team
community is huge and not the focus of this article. Suffice it to
say that creating team leadership is non-optional for mlm success. A
mistake that is often made though is that this higher group of
leaders within a team or company is too guarded or tightly sealed. It
must have a way for those climbing the ladder of success to be let in
to the next levels of leadership and responsibility. A good mlm coach
will know you have got to let people in!
Lift you up!: When someone begins to have
success in mlm, a crucial and vulnerable bridge to cross is when we
help leaders developing their own team within a team. This takes a
new set of leadership skills and the path is filled with land mines
that can blow the whole thing apart for the new emerging leader.
During this season it is so crucial for that up and coming leader to
have a seasoned voice to speak encouragement and wisdom through that
season of their business growth. Here
is a manual I put together to coach coaches in this process of mlm coaching.
Lead you on!: Through the process of
lifting up your key leaders, it is important to ensure they have a
significant and passionate vision, and an understanding of the bigger
picture to carry them to the next level of success. This along with
practical team management strategies will assist them to go forward.
Often good leaders will get to a level and plateau when they achieve
some intermediate goals, such as full time income. We can spur them
to continue upward.
Let you go!: This is a juncture that is
often painful and confusing for leaders who are not leaders of
leaders. In coaching coaches I have seen so many fail at this step.
Those who rise to strong leadership invariably have their own
entrepreneurial energy and creativity in their "dna." It
runs in their blood - just like you.
It is imperative that you let them go with a
blessing if they want to "do their own thing." So many
leaders of leaders fail here, even though it defies logic - why
wouldnt we want our best to flourish, especially if we also
benefit financially??? In coaching coaches here are a few reasons I
have discovered:
1. Many leaders are too controlling.
They lead well when others "toe the line." They are good
leaders within more structured environments like military or
corporate business, but not leading other independent marketers.
2. Many leaders are insecure. Anything
outside of their understanding or experience is not acceptable to
them. It really is simply masking pride. They cant let others
go with a blessing.
3. EGO. The big EGO.
Hiding behind silly reasons, which are sometimes even unconscious,
they condemn those who are becoming more successful or recognized
than they are.
In coaching coaches my experience is most leaders
of leaders fail at letting go. They often pompously justify and
rationalize their actions as they vilify the new leader of leaders in
their midst.
If you aspire to be a leader of leaders, one who
is looking forward to coaching coaches, be sure to know your rising
stars are looking for someone to:
Look
them up!
Let them in!
Lift them up!
Lead them on!
Let them go!

We all need mlm coaching. We can get it many
ways, but don't neglect or discount the power of one-on-one coaching
if you are wanting to avoid common pitfalls or simply travel faster
down your road to success.
